In April 2025, I had the privilege of attending the BPH Summit in Istanbul, a gathering of BPH specialists(who manage the ‘enlarged prostate’) and thought leaders focused on the evolving management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The summit offered an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas with international experts and explore how modern, minimally invasive therapies are reshaping BPH care worldwide.
A key focus of the summit was the integration of Rezum therapy into urological practices—particularly how many specialists are now offering Rezum as a first-line treatment for patients with mildly to moderately enlarged prostates, replacing the need for medication in mild disease. The consensus was clear: Rezum is replacing the need for chronic BPH medication in many cases and is being offered as a day-case, low-downtime alternative to TURP for appropriate patients.
I’m excited to share that Rezum is now available through my practice, providing my patients with access to this cutting-edge therapy locally.
In parallel, the summit also reinforced the role of HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) as the standard for significantly enlarged prostates, that required open surgery in the past. Its durability, safety profile, and ability to manage even the largest glands with minimal bleeding and rapid recovery make it a superior choice for patients who would have traditionally been steered toward partial TURP or open prostatectomy.
Both Rezum and HoLEP are now part of my treatment offering, ensuring patients benefit from a tailored approach to prostate enlargement—with a focus on faster recovery, fewer complications, and long-term relief.
